Programme Guide

Will Hay has often been said to be a big comic influence on Galton and Simpson and Hancock, particularly in the seedier aspects of the Hancock character. Aside from his comic career, Will Hay was also a noted astronomer and it is even claimed that he found a white spot on Saturn and wrote a paper on the subject. This show casts Hancock as having an interest in astronomy and therein he discovers a Red Planet approaching Earth.

So, in order to avoid the planets colliding, Hancock enlists Sid's help for them to make a swift journey to Mars - by 50's-style spacecraft. Roll over Dan Dare; tell Jet Morgan the news; just when you thought it was safe to fly, Space Commander 'Wings' Hancock takes to the sky, with only an empty goldfish bowl and cardboard ray gun with which to save the world.

Yet again, another show it would be very nice to hear, should this show ever be found again, having been "lost" from the BBC Sound Archives.
